Our parish has many ministries

it’s simple and easy to get involved

CATECHETICAL SCHOOL

If you or your child wish to join the Orthodox Church you are requred to finish the Catechetical school prior to being baptized. Here you can test yourself to see how much you know about our faith. It’s not all about knowledge but the Orthodox Church is the oldest intellectual tradition in the West and faith cannot and should not be dumbed down. Our Catechetical school is a one year program of worshiping (regularly attending Sunday Liturgies) and learning (Tuesday evening Bible lessons) with the goal of ordering your life harmoniously with Christ and His holy Church. Depending of individual cases and circumstances the parish priest holds a discretion to prolong or shorten the preparation process. At present you may join at anytime of the year so all you need to do is fill in the attached form and Fr Branko will get back to you.

Join our weekly Bible studies, every Tuesday evening at 8.30 pm via Zoom. Email: wollongongparish@gmail.com to receive a link to join

Ladies Auxiliaries

Ladies Auxiliaries or Serbian Sister’s Cyrcle (KOLO SRPSKIH SESTARA) is a volunteer women's charitable society established in Belgrade in 1903 and in our Wollongong parish in 1968. It’s purpose is to support the needy regardless of religious or ethnic background, organizes humanitarian aid, provides refreshments after the Sunday and other services. It exists in almost every Serbian parish in diaspora. Our local parish society celebrates the Entrance of the Theotokos as its patron feast-day on the 4th of December each year or on the closest Sunday to it. If you are considering joining press the tab below.

Bereavement Ministry

Blessed are they who mourn for they shall be comforted Mt 5:4

Dealing with the loss of a loved one is one of the toughest challenges any of us will ever face. Whilst a fellow human being is mourning we as Christians are called by Christ to comfort him. Our parish has founded a ministry to support those that need comfort.

Serbian Parish School & Folklore

The school for learning Serbian language has been existing since the very establishment of the parish and that’s the very reason why the church was at some point even registered as a ‘church-school community’. Education plays a big part in the life of any parish and Serbian language as the ancestral language of the vast majority of parishioners is cherished and studied by dozens of children enrolled. The school has three subjects: Serbian Language with culture and history, Basics of Orthodox Christianity and Folklore dancing lessons. Lessons are held every Friday from 5.30pm to 9pm depending on school children age. All children are obliged by the governing rules to attend all subjects. Enrollments are accepted during the months of January and February only. The school is registered and follows the NSW Government Community Languages Schools Program.
